Ganesha Chaturthi’2014

Ganesha Chaturthi is celebrated in the month of Bhaadrapada. Students are always excited and they want to celebrate it with full potential in colleges. Ganesh Chaturthi starts with the installation of these Ganesh Statutes in colorfully decorated homes and specially erected temporary structures pandals in every locality. Students also bring the idol of Shree Ganesha by collecting monetary contributions. The same I had seen in our college campus, inside the boy’s hostel. They had erected a stage and decorated the idol with beautiful flowers.

However they are not aware about the significance of the Idol of Lord Ganesha and the purpose behind the decoration of the stage or pandal. He is worshiiped as the lord of beginnings and as the lord of removing all kinds of obstacles, the patron of arts and science, and the God of intellect and wisdom. Devotees interpret his elephant head as indicating intelligence, discriminative power, fidelity, or other attributes thought to be had by elephants.
